  • by

oung people took centre stage in Savai‘i today as the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs (MFSA) joined youth representatives, government agencies, churches, schools, development partners and community stakeholders to mark Youth Development Day 2026.

Held under the theme “Fausia Lumanai, From Policy to Action,” the event reinforced a simple message: young people are not only Samoa’s future, they are contributing to Samoa today.

The programme opened with a devotion by Reverend Aukuso Taumate of EFKS Samata Tai, who encouraged young people to pursue their goals with faith, discipline, integrity and service.

Speaking on behalf of Government, the Associate Minister for the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs reaffirmed the importance of turning youth policies into real opportunities in leadership, education, employment, entrepreneurship, digital skills, health and community participation.

The day also connected young people with practical information and services through presentations from the Ministry of Health Samoa Mental Health Unit, Pacific Australia Skills, the Pola Puipui National Coordinator, Miss Samoa and the Samoa Youth Advisory Committee.

MFSA acknowledged the continued support of families, churches, villages, schools, youth organizations and partners in advancing youth development across Samoa.

“Fausia Lumanai – From Policy to Action” is more than a theme. It is a call to turn commitment into opportunity and give every young person the chance to thrive, lead and contribute.
